We must put all other terms on the right side and isolate the y term on the left in order to solve for y.
Remember to do the reverse operation when moving terms across the '=' sign.
Subtraction is the opposite of addition, and vice versa. The same is true for division and multiplication.
hence : 2y=102x
y is being multiplied by 2 , so divide by 2 to obtain y.
y=102x2=1022x2=5x

There is more than one solution to the equation than there would be if there were just one variable.
Only "in terms of x" can one express y.
An exact numerical value for y can only be calculated if a value of x is given.
This is exactly why graphs are drawn for equations with 2 variables - a line consists of infinitely many points, each of which is a solution to the equation of that line.
