If you substitute, then you must replace something with something else.
When your teacher is not in school, a substitute teacher takes his or her place, right?
The same idea applies here.
Let 3x - 4y = 25 be Equation A
Let x 2 + y 2 = 25 be Equation B
I will solve for x in Equation A and then plug that into Equation B to find y.
3x - 4y = 25
3x = 4y + 25
x = 4y/3 + 25/3
Take 4y/3 + 25/3 and plug into Equation B for x. and simplify.
( 4 y / 3 + 25 / 3 ) 2 + y 2 = 25
This is what you must do to finish the question:
1-Simplify ( 4 y / 3 + 25 / 3 ) 2 + y 2 = 25 to find the value of y.
2-After finding the value of y, plug your value of y into EITHER Equation A or Equation B for y.
