Begin with finding the slope by using the slope formula: m = y 2 - y 1 x 2 - x 1
If we let ( 0 , - 2 ) ( x 1 , y 1 ) and ( - 1 , 2 ) ( x 2 , y 2 ) then,
m = 2 - ( - 2 ) - 1 - 0 = 4 - 1 = - 4
Using the slope and any of the two points above, we can determine the slope of the line in point-slope form by using this formula: y - y 1 = m ( x - x 1 ) . I will use the point (0,−2)
If we let m=−4 and ( 0 , - 2 ) ( x 1 , y 1 ) then:
y−(−2)=−4(x−0)
y+2=−4(x−0)
