Begin with finding the slope by using the slope formula: $m=\frac{{y}_{2}-{y}_{1}}{{x}_{2}-{x}_{1}}$

If we let $({0},{-2})\to ({{x}_{1}},{{y}_{1}})$ and $({-1},{2})\to ({{x}_{2}},{{y}_{2}})$ then,

$m=\frac{{2-(-2)}}{{-1-0}}=\frac{4}{-1}=-4$

Using the slope and any of the two points above, we can determine the slope of the line in point-slope form by using this formula: $y-{y}_{1}=m(x-{x}_{1})$. I will use the point (0,−2)

If we let m=−4 and $({0},{-2})\to ({{x}_{1}},{{y}_{1}})$ then:

y−(−2)=−4(x−0)

y+2=−4(x−0)
