To calculate the consecutive terms just add d to a 1 , so you get:
a 2 = a 1 + r = - 38 + ( - 100 ) = - 138
a 3 = a - 2 - 100 = - 138 - 100 = - 238
and so on

To find the formula just substitute a 1 and r in a n = a 1 + ( n - 1 ) r

a n = - 38 - 100 ( n - 1 ) = - 38 - 100 n + 100 = 62 - 100 n
a 1 = - 38 , a 2 = - 138 , a 3 = - 238 , a 4 = - 338 , a 5 = - 438
