Which connective to use when translating the statement x ( 2 < x < 3 ) to words?
Does the above read as “for all x, x > 2 and < 3" or as " x > 2 or < 3"?
I want to know which one to use, in order to be able to determine how to correctly negate the statement.

Step 1
1. In an inequality like 7 < 2 x + 1 < 15 ,, x simultaneously satisfies both (2) 7 < 2 x + 1
and (3) 2 x + 1 < 15 ,
so the solution set is the intersection of (2) and (3).
Step 2
2. On the other hand, in an inequality like | x | > 3 ,,
x satisfies either (5) x < 3
or (6) x > 3
(or sometimes even both inequalities), so the solution set is the union of (5) and (6).
P.S. Either a number line or Venn diagram helps to visualise taking the aforementioned intersection or union of sets of numbers.
