Let 'x' be the width and 'x+10' be the length of the playground. Given that area is between 900sq.m and 1200sq.m.
Area = x ( x + 10 ) = x 2 + 10 x x 2 + 10 x 900  or  x 2 + 10 x 1200 x 2 + 10 x 900 0  or  x 2 + 10 x 1200 0
By applying quadratic formula we get,
x = ( 10 ± 100 + 3600 ) 2  or  x = ( 10 ± 100 + 4800 ) 2 x = 25.41 ;   35.41  or  x = 30 ; 40
Since length cannot be negative,
x=25.41. Or. x=30
If x=25.41 then,
Width,x =25.41 m and length,(x+10)= 35.41 m
If x=30 then,
Width= 30m and length= 40m
