I would be so tempted to divide by x2y2, so I would consider the following cases:
if x=0 then that implies y=0
if y=0 then that would imply x=0
x0,y0 Thus dividing by x2y2 will be legal
x3y22+y3x2=0
x(xy)22+y(yx)2=0
Substitute u=(xy)2
xu2+yu=0
xu22u+y=0
This is a quadratic in u and since x and y are rational. The discriminatn is 4(1xy), which has to be a perfect square for u to be rational.
