let x be the cost of each ticket
20 tickets given away would cost 20x
60 tickets sold at half the cost = 60(1/2)x = 30x
20x + 30x = 1000
50 x = 1000
x = 20 (cost of one ticket)
half the price = $10

let, X $ = cost of one ticket.
the company bought 80 tickets for the jazz concert.
so, the total cost of tickets = 80*X
now, the company gives away 20 tickets to customers.
and they sold the rest (80 - 20) = 60 tickest to the employee sat the half of the purchase price i.e. X/2 $.
so, the totla selling price = 60*X/2 = 30X $.
the compnay absorbed $1000 loss on all the tickets.
so, lets forem an equation to solve this problem,
80*X - 30*X = 1000
=> 50X = 1000
=> X = 1000/50
= 20
=> X/2 = 20/2 = 10
so an employee pays 10$ for a ticket.
Answer:- an employee pays 10$ for a ticket.
