let speed hiking down to the lake =v
Then speed hiking uphill will be = v-4
Solution,
We know that distance = times x speed
Since distance is same.
Hence,
v × 3 = ( v 4 ) × 6 3 v = 6 v 24 3 v 6 v = 24 + 3 v = + 24 v = 24 3 b = 8  mph
The speed hiking down is 8 mph
