Let the width is w feet.
Because the length is 2 feet more thatn three times the width. so length is
Length =3 (width) +2
=3w+2
The perimeter of rectangle is twice of sum of length and width, so
2 ( Length + Width ) = Perimeter 2 ( 3 w + 2 + w ) = 24 2 ( 4 w + 2 ) = 24
Now solve equation for w as,
2 ( 4 w + 2 ) 2 = 24 2 4 w + 2 = 12 4 w + 2 2 = 12 2 4 w = 10 4 w 4 = 10 4 w = 5 2
Therefore, the width of dog run is 5 2 ft.
