Let γ be the rate of the single-engine plane then γ + 70 be the rate of the twin-engine plane.
for a twin-engine plane: time = 800 γ + 70
and for a single-engine plane: time = 520 γ
Both take the same time
520 γ + 36400 = 800 γ 280 γ = 36400 γ = 130
the rate of single-engine plane = γ = 130 mph
