Chi-square test of independence:
The chi-square test of independence is used to test the relationship between two or more categorical variables. The hypothesis uses a chi-square test statistic and compares the test statistic with the chi-square critical value for a given level of significance for (m-1)(n-1) degrees of freedom.
Here,
There are two categorical variables are treatment group and treatment completion which can be represented in a 2x2 contingency table. A chi-square test of independence is used to find out whether these two factors are related or not. Rejection in the null hypothesis concludes that the two factors treatment group and treatment completion are related.
A contingency coefficient is used to find the strength of relationship between the variables,
C=χ2χ2+N
Where,
Numerator represents the chi-square test statistic.
N represents the total number of observations.
A general rule of thumb for interpreting the strength of relationship is,
 CC  Strenght <0.10 Weak 0.110.30 Moderate >0.31 Strong
