For the validity of the chi-square test &#039;goodness of fit between theory and experiment following conditions must be satisfied:(i) The sample observations should be independent.(ii) Constraint on the cell frequencies should be linear.(iii)  N, the total frequency should be reasonably large.(iv) No, theoretical cell frequency should be less than 5.If we have a grouped data then we have to aggregate the value of the class at a midpoint and we will take the frequency corresponding to the mid point only. That can make a significant difference in the test results.
