There are in general 4 survey sampling methods.
Simple Random Sampling: Each member of the sample is chosen randomly from the population.
Systematic Random Sampling: Members of the sample are chosen randomly but from regular intervals.
Stratified Random Sampling: The population is divided into subgroups then some members are chosen randomly from each subgroup.
Cluster Random Sampling: The population is divided into subgroups then all members are chosen from some random subgroups.
a) In the given question, 100 students are selected from population of pupils enrolled in the barangay Day Care Center by lottery method. In lottery method, each lottery has equal probability of selection.
So, the sampling distribution used is Simple Random Sampling.
b) In the given question, the population is divided into subgroups based on year. Then the subgroups are mixed randomly for random selection and Then 10 students are chosen randomly from each subgroups. Thus, in the end, a random selection of 10 students is done from the subgroups generated.
Hence, this is Stratified Random Sampling as 10 students is selected from all sub groups.
