The citical angle θ c of a medium denser than air is the angle of incident of a ray in that medium refracted in air for which the angle of refraction becomes 90
So refractive index μ of the medium w.r to air will be
μ = sin ( A n g l e   i n   r a r e r   m e d i u m ) sin ( A n g l e   i n   t h e   d e s e r   m e d i u m )
= ( sin 90 sin θ c ) = ( 1 sin 40.7 ) 1.53
