The results of Rutherford's gold foil experiment would have been different if the Thomson model of the atom had been accurate: all of the alpha particles would have passed through the gold foil at the same speed; they would have all been deflected at various angles; they would all have been bounced back at an angle; and they would have all been deflected at small angles and with reduced speed.
