Clouds of dust were drawn together by gravity and clumped into planet-forming planets as the solar system developed. The sun was created in the solar system's densest region in its center. The huge mass of the sun drew the planets in. The planets did, however, travel in directions tangent to or away from the direction of the force of their attraction to the sun at an angle as a result of collisions with space junk. As long as the sun's pull was still strong enough, orbitals developed, keeping the planets in their orbits as they moved around the sun under the influence of centrifugal and centripetal forces.
