Since sound waves are partially reflected when they pass through materials with different densities, they can be used to create images. Since ultrasonic waves have a shorter wavelength than other types of waves and can be easily reflected by smaller objects, they in particular produce images that are more detailed.
Sound waves with wavelengths longer than that of ultrasonic waves, such as audible and infrasonic waves, will be reflected off from larger objects and objects with smaller details will not be captured.
