To find the intensity level of a sound source that is perceived to be twice as loud as one with of 45 dB we must first remember:
Our perception of sound is such that doubling the loudness corresponds to increasing the intensity by a factor of 10, which corresponds to an increase of 10 dB.
Keeping that in mind, it is easily found that for doubling of loudness we need a source of
45dB+10dB=55dB
Result:
The intensity level of the required source is 55 dB
