Leaving the initial temperature alone I=x.
Final temperature F=2
Change in temperature C=IF=x(2)=(x+2)F
But there has been a temperature change #C = 13^@F#
Then, C=13=(x+2)
You can't use 'macro parameter character #' in math mode

Without using algebra, here is another way to approach this problem:
We know that at the end of the time period, it's 2F. At the beginning of the time period, it was 13F warmer. We can therefore state that adding -2 and 13 will give the temperature at the start of the time period:
2+13=11 F
