Moment of inertia of the sphere about its diametral axis is 2 5 m r 2
Moment of inertia of the sphere about COM of the system is 2 5 m r 2 + m ( l 2 + r ) 2
Moment of inertia of the system about center of rod is 4 5 m r 2 + 2 m ( l 2 + r ) 2
m=1.5 kg
r=0.5 m
l/2+r=2.5 m
On substitution
I c o m = 4 5 ( 1.5 ) ( 0.5 ) 2 + 2 ( 1.5 ) ( 2.5 ) 2 = 0.3 + 3 ( 6.25 ) = 19.05 k g . m 2
