1)Work done by a force is defined as the sum of an object's or particle's displacement and the component of the force acting in the direction of the object's motion.
2)The product of an object's displacement and the component of the applied force that is directed in the direction of the object's displacement is known as the work done by a force.
3)Depending on which way an object is moving, the amount of work done to overcome gravity can either be negative or positive.
4) If the object moves upward, the work done by gravity will be negative as the direction of gravity is opposite of the displacement. Whereas if an object moves downwards, the work done by gravity will be positive as the gravity and the displacement will be in the same direction.
