According to Hooke's Law, the stress that builds up inside an elastic body is directly proportional to the strain that caused it.
The force needed to extend or compress a spring by distance x is directly proportional to the amount of expansion or compression.
And this force F s = k x ;; Where, F s = = force applied on the spring, x = spring stretch or compression,k=spring constant.
