Potential difference is the amount of work involved in moving a unit charge from one place to another. An indicator of the amount of energy given to charged carriers inside a circuit is the potential difference (or voltage) of a supply. The point has a high electric potential whenever a coulomb charge at any place has a high potential energy. Which point thus has a low electric potential if a coulomb charge at that location has low potential energy. The difference in electric potential between the two locations is represented by this electrical potential difference.
