Solution:
(a) We know that average speed
V a = Total distance Total time
= s 1 + s 2 t 1 + t 2  here  s 1 = 76 8 m ,   s 2 = 76 8 m
t 1 = s 1 v 1 = s 1 1.41 t 1 = s 2 v 2 = s 1 3.41     s 1 = s 2 = 76.8 m
v a = s 1 + s 1 s 1 1.41 + s 1 3.41 = 2 × 1.41 × 3.41 1.41 + 3.41 m / s v a = 9.616 4.82 = 1.995 m / s ( A n s w e r )
(b) Again
v a = s 1 + s 2 t 1 + t 2
Here t 1 = 1 min = 60 s
s 1 = v 1 = t 1 = 1.41 × 60 = 84.6 m
t 2 = 1.13 min = 1.13 × 60 s = 67.8 s
s 2 = v 2 t 2 = 3.41 × 1.13 × 60 s = 231.198 m
v a = 84.6 + 231.198 60 + 67.8 m / s = 315.798 127.8 m / s
v a = 2.471 m / s (Answer)
