A vacuum is an area with no matter or so little pressure that any particles there have no bearing on any activity occurring there. According to the definition of vacuum, the temperature must have been zero. However, the third law of thermodynamics states that a temperature of zero is not possible. Because of this, it is possible to assert that there is no perfect vacuum and that even if there were, the temperature would be zero. Therefore, a vacuum must have a temperature of absolute zero.
