Insulators are substances that do not permit the flow of an electric current through them. There are no free electrons available for movement because the electrons in insulators are so tightly bound to one another. that's how electricity cannot be passed through them. The thermal conductivity of insulators is very low. The resistivity of insulators is very high. Examples: Rubber, plastics and glass are examples of Insulators.Hence, The materials which do not allow electricity to pass through them is called as Insulators.
