A loud speaker of mass 19.0 kg is suspended a distance of 1.00 m below the ceiling by two cables that make equal angles with the ceiling. Each cable has a length of 3.30 m.
A) What is the tension in each ofthe cables? (Use 9.80 ms2 for the magnitude of the acceleration due to gravity.)

In the given problem let T1=T2=T
Now, horizontal component of tension is given by
T1cosθ=T2cosθ
Vertical component of force is given by
T1sinθ+T2sinθ=mg
2Tsinθ=mg
Then tension in each string is T=mg2sinθ
Given g=9.80 ms2
m=19.0 kg
Given the mass is suspended at a distance of 1.0 m below and length of each string is 3.30 m
Then sinθ=13.30 m
θ=16.64
Substituting all these values in the eqation of T=(19.0 kg)(9.80 ms2)2sin17.64
=307.2N
