Here the initial speed of the jet vi=100 m s1
Final speed of the jet vf=0.00m s1
Acceleration of the jet is a=5.00m s2
From part, the minimum time required to come to rest is t=20.0 s
We know from kinematic equation
S=vit+12at2
=100 m s1×20.0 s+12×5.00 m s2×(20.0 s)2
=1000 m
=1.00 km
So the minimun length of the runway should be 1.00 km to come to rest. Therefore this plane can not land on a small tropical island airport where the runway is 0.800 km long.
Result: No
