Given a block which is at rest on a perfectly flat smooth table with no friction. You push with your hand horizontally on the block with some force. The force on the block = 16.0 N and the acceleration of the block is 2.00 m/s^2. If the force on the block is tripled then the acceleration of the block will be which of these?

Given
Force F 1 = 16.0   N
Acceleration a 1 = 2.00   m / s 2
Solution
Let us find the mass of the object first
F 1 = m a 1 m = F 1 a 1 m = 16 2 m = 8  kg
We can find the acceleration of the 8 kg object when the applied force is tippled
F 2 = m a 2 3 F 1 = m a 2 a 2 = 3 F 1 m a 2 = 3 × 16 8 a 2 = 6   m / s 2
Answer
The new acceleration of the object is 6   m / s 2
