The area A of a square whose sides are each of lenght s is given by $A = s^{2}$ .

The side length s is 8

Then radius is 4

The area of the quarter circle is $= \frac{1}{4} π r^{2}$

Area is quarter circle = Area of square - 4 x area of quarter circle

$= s^{2} - 4 \times \frac{1}{4} π r^{2}$

$= s^{2} - π r^{2}$

$= 8^{2} - π (4^{2})$

The area of shaded region is $64 - 16 π$
