The (Euclidean) distance between two points ( x 1 , y 1 , z 1 ) and ( x 2 , y 2 , z 2 ) is given by the formula:
( x 2 - x 1 ) 2 + ( y 2 - y 1 ) 2 + ( z 2 - z 1 ) 2
So for ( x 1 , y 1 , z 1 ) = ( - 6 , 3 , 1 ) and ( x 2 , y 2 , z 2 ) = ( - 1 , 4 , - 2 ) the distance is:
( ( - 1 ) - ( - 6 ) ) 2 + ( ( 4 ) - ( 3 ) ) 2 + ( ( - 2 ) - ( 1 ) ) 2
= 5 2 + 1 2 + ( - 3 ) 2 = 25 + 1 + 9 = 35
