Recall that the frequency distribution only presents the tally or the frequency of the data values in a data set. On the other hand, relative frequency presents the proportion of the data set. Hence, when comparing two data sets, it is better to use relative frequency distributions.
Also, when the data set is large, the large frequencies might cause some confusion on the comparison. Hence, it is not advisable to use frequency distribution.
