I thought you could make them into

\frac{- 2 x + 18}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}}

You're almost correct.

2 \sqrt{9 - 2 x} - \frac{2 x}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}} = 2 \sqrt{9 - 2 x} \times \frac{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}} - \frac{2 x}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}}

= \frac{2 {(\sqrt{9 - 2 x})}^{2}}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}} - \frac{2 x}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}}

= \frac{2 (9 - 2 x)}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}} - \frac{2 x}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}}

= \frac{2 (9 - 2 x) - 2 x}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}}

= \frac{18 - 4 x - 2 x}{\sqrt{9 - 2 x}}
