i) 2x - 3y = -13 => multiply by -4 => -8x + 12y = 52
ii) 5x - 12y =-46 => 5x - 12y = -46 => -3x=6 => x=-2
insert x = -2 equation i) : -4 - 3y = -13 => -3y = -9 => y = 3

first line up the equations
2x-3y=-13
+5x-12y=-46
now you want to get rid of one variable, this can be done bymulitpling the top equation by -4
-8x+12y=52
+5x-12y=-46
-3x=6 (this was got because i added the 2equations together)
x=-2
now that you have x you can solve for y. pick an originalequation and put -2 in for x
2(-2)-3y=-13
-4-3y=-13
-3y=-9
y=3
so x=-2 and y=-3
