First we have to figure out the least common denominator for 4 and5, which is 20. There are no numbers less than 20 which has 4and 5 as a factor.
To get 2/5 and 3/4 to have a denominator of 20 we times 2/5 by 4/4and 3/4 by 5/5
(4/4) * (2/5) = 8/20
(5/5) * (3/4) = 15/20
Now we have 102 8/20 - 43 15/20. But 8/20 is smaller than15/20. So we have to borrow a 20/20 from 102.
=101 (20/20) + (8/20) - 43 15/20
=101 28/20 - 43 15/20
= 58 13/20
Hope this helps.
