given that y = 1 / (x+1)
now ,
x.y + y = 1
x.y = 1- y
x = (1 - y) / y

Start by bringing (x+1) to the other side of the equation by multiplying it by both sides:
y(x+1) = 1
Now use the distributive property:
yx+1y (or just y) = 1
Subtract the y from both sides:
yx = 1-y
Now divide by y to get x by itself:
x = (1-y)/y
