Let total number of tomato plants be x.
Lauryn grew tomato plants = P
Padma grew tomato plants = 3P-5
Kent grew tomato plants = 4P+6
Total number of tomato plants = x
Hence x = P + 3 P 5 + 4 P + 6 x = P + 3 P + 4 P 5 + 6 x = 8 P + 1
Total number of tomato plants that Lauryn, Padma and Kent grew are: 8 P + 1
