A decimal number is said to be terminating if it has finite number of digits after decimal and if a decimal number doesn't have finite number of terms after decimal then that number is said to be non-terminating decimal number.
Consider the fraction = 1 3
Now when we divide 1 by 3 we get 0.3333333....
i.e. 1 3 = 0.3333333... it never ends.
i.e. it does not have finite number of terms after decimal.
So , 1 3 is equivalent to a decimal that does not terminate.
