it is some time easier to the unit circle. we will take
x=cost, y=sint
the important relation to remember is
x2+y2=1 (1)
we can convert
sec2t+3csc2t=8
into1x2+3y2=8
so you have
3x2+y2=8x2y2 (2)
you can solve (1) and (2) by eliminating, say, y to get
3x2+1x2=8x2(1x2)
this is a quadratic equation in x2, that is
8x4+6x21=0
has roots
x2=6±6816, x=±6+6816, t=81.92,98.07
