the equation of a line in point-slope form is
x y - y 1 = m ( x - x 1 )
where m is the slope and ( x 1 , y 1 ) a point on the line
to calculate m use the gradient formula
x m = y 2 - y 1 x 2 - x 1
let ( x 1 , y 1 ) = ( - 2 , 1 ) and ( x 2 , y 2 ) = ( 4 , 13 )
use either of the 2 points as a point on the line
#"use either of the 2 points as a point on the line"#
using m = 2 and ( x 1 , y 1 ) = ( 4 , 13 ) then
y - 13 = 2 ( x - 4 ) in point-slope form
