We need two points in order to graph a line.
The equation of a line in slope-intercept form is.
| 2 2 y = m x + b 2 2 | ̲ ¯
where b is the y-intercept and m is the slope.
y = - 2 x + 3 is in this form
y-intercept = b = 3 ( 0 , 3 ) is point on line
To find another point on the line, choose any value for x, substitute into the equation and evaluate for y
x = 3 y = ( - 2 × 3 ) + 3 = - 6 + 3 = - 3
( 3 , - 3 ) is a point on the line
Plot the 2 points, draw a straight line through them to obtain the graph.
