Theo buys a slice of pizza and a bottle of water in 3$. Ralph buys 3 slices of pizza and 2 bottles of water for 8$ How much does a slice of pizza cost?

Macsen Nixon

let the cost of pizza be x
let the cost of the bottle be y
Theo buys a slice of pizza and a water bottle for $3 therefore, the equation becomes $x+y=3$ (1) Step 2 Ralph buys 3 slices of pizza 3x and 2 bottles of water $2y$ the total money he paid was$8

$3x+2y=8$ (2)

solving equation 1 and equation 2 to get the values of x and y substitute the value of $x=3-y$ from equation (1) in the equation (2) we get

$3\left(3-y\right)+2y=8$

$9-3y+2y=8$

$9-y=8$

$y=1$

Step 3

putting the value of y in equation (1) we get

$x+1=3$

$x=2$

therefore, the cost of the pizza is $x=2$ and the cost of water bottle is $y=1$.
