Step 1
The absolute value or modulus of a real number x, denoted |x|, is the non-negative value of x without regard to its sign.
|x|={xif x>0xif x<0
Step 2
We have,
|x+2|+5=5
(Case-1) Let us consider that, (x2)0x2, then we get the result as
(x+2)+5=5
x+2=0
x=-2
Since, we already have a condition that x must be greater than 2, therefore no solution.
(Case-2) Let us consider that, (x2)<0x<2, then we get the result as
-(x+2)+5=5
-x-2=0
x=-2
Since, we already have a condition that x must be less than 2 and -2 is less that 2.
Hence, solution of equation |x+2|+5=5 is x=-2.
