Base salary =$725month
If total sales reciept exceeds $1450, he recieves 6%, commission on sales over $1450
1. Let x= Total value of sales reciept made by the salesman.
Let y= Salary of the salesman at the end of the month.
2. So, total income in terms of his sales:
y=725+(x1450)×6100
Or, y=725+6(x1450)100
3. To earn a salary of $2500
Or, y=2500
Or, 725+6(x1450)100=2500
Or, 6(x1450)100=2500725
Or, 6x8700=177500
Or, 6x=186200
Or, x=1862006=31033.33
The sales reciept should be of $31033.33

The amount of monthly income from commissions would have to be ... $2100-975 = $1125 This is 7% of sales over $1250, so the sales (s) would need to be ... 1125 = 0.07(s -1250) 1125 = .07s -87.50 eliminate parentheses 1212.50 = 0.07s add 87.50 17,321.43 = s divide by 0.07 He would have to sell $17,321.43 in a month if he needed an income of $2100.
