Middle term splitting will always remain my favorite method for factorising polynomials!
 x2+12x+4x+2=6x  (x+2)2+8xx+2=6x   (x+2)26x(x+2)+8x=0   (x+2)24x(x+2)2x(x+2)+8x=0   (x+24x)(x+22x)=0
Now apply the quadratic formula.
