x = b 2 a
a) y = 2 x 2 12 x + 15 a = 2 ,   b = 12 x = ( 12 ) 2 ( 2 ) = 3
Plug x = 3 in quadratic function
y = 2 ( 3 ) 2 12 ( 3 ) + 15 = 18 36 + 15 = 3
So vertex is ( 3 , 3 )
b) y = x 2 4 x + 3 a = 1 ,   b = 4 x = ( 4 ) 2 ( 1 ) = 2
Plug x = 2 in quadratic function
y = ( 2 ) 2 4 ( 2 ) + 3 = 4 + 8 + 3 = 4 + 11 = 7
So vertex is ( 2 , 7 )
