1. Find the time it takes for the bullet to fall to the ground.It's vertical displacement is independent from the horizontal displacement. e.g. if you dropped a bullet down to the ground atthe same time that you shot it, both would it the ground at thesame time.
y ( t ) = 1 / 2 a t 2
y ( t ) = 1 / 2 32.17 f t / s 2 x t 2
y ( t ) = 5 f t = 1 / 2 32.17 f t / s 2 t 2
t=0.558s
2. Take the time (t) for it to hit the ground, plug it in to thehorizontal displacement equation to get displacement
x(t) = 2000ft/s * t
x(0.558) = 2000*0.558 = 1116ft
Which is pretty close to c.1118ft
