f ( x + h ) f ( x ) h
First plug into the function f(x)=mx+k
= m ( x + h ) + k ( m x + k ) h
Now simplify
= m x + m h + k m x k h
= m h h
=m
Thus, the expression does not depend on h or x, and only depends onm.
