The formula for slope given points ( x 1 , y 1 ) and ( x 2 , y 2 ) , the formula for slope is y 2 - y 1 x 2 - x 1 .
Since rise is change in y and run is change in x, this is also seen as r i s e r u n .
For your points, you would simply plug into the formula.
5 - 1 3 - 1
4 2
= 2, which is your slope.
